EBCA intensify cooperation with IBA of japan
For the 1st time an european
team was sent to the “Junior Nankyu Baseball World Championchip Tournament” in
july 2005.
Nankyu Baseball is a rubber Baseball from Kenko wich is a little bit lighter and
smaller than a regular Baseball. It is perfect for kids because it has only ¼ of
the impact of a regular Baseball and great for practice at bad weather.
So players from Czech, the Netherlands and Germany went from the 22nd of july till the 29th of july to Tokyo.
The players stayed at families at will played 4 games. At the 1st day the team played well but lost to Japan 3 (1-5) and Japan 2 (2-7) so they had to play Australia and the US team the following day. After a close game which the team lost to Australia (1-2) the boys were burned out and didn´t have a chance against the US boys. (1-10)
But even if the team couldn´t win a game nobody was dissapointed because the EBCA team had the youngest players by far and could get alot of experience. Also staying at families in a totally different culture was an unforgatable “adventure”.
Beside playing in the tournament the team went to a baseballgame in Tokio Dome and played 4 games against local teams.
The team was coached by Georg Apfelbaum, Taishi Nakamura, Florian Nehring and Jens Warrelmann.
After being in Japan with an EBCA, team two japanese teams (U14 & U15) went to Germany from the 26th of august till the 1st of september to play games against local teams.
Mr. Tominaga, who was in Cologne for the 3rd time in 12 months agreed to come to Prague for this years convention. Also he informed the EBCA about plans to establish a “European Championship of Nankyu Baseball”. Beside an EBCA team which is already invited to the “3rd World Championship of Nankyu Baseball” in july 2006 in Tokyo the winner of the European Championship will earn a spot in Tokyo as well. So in total 5 EBCA coaches will have chance to be part of the coaching staff to coach one of the teams in Tokio. If you are interested in participating please contact the EBCA office.
